Strong rumors suggest that there will be 60,000 beta invites sent out next week for Media Molecule`s LittleBigPlanet – 20,000 for European, American and Japanese regions.

Keep a close eye on your email inbox and your fingers crossed

According to a recent post on the PlayStation Blog by Jack Buser, Director of PlayStation Home, they have today expanded the closed beta to thousands of new beta testers. He goes on to say that if you have not received an email invite this time, not to worry as there will be further `waves of invitations` sent out before it goes to public open beta.

What does this mean? Basically the game is finished, or as finished as it`s going to be until obligatory `fixes` are needed - yes I am a cynic. They have started manufacturing the PS3 cases, manuals and most importantly Blu-ray discs. LittleBigPlanet will hit stores in North & Latin America on October 21st and Europe on October 24th. More pre-order goodies are being touted, including the space suit displayed above and the “I was there Week One” T-Shirt shown below, but it`s unclear whether we in Europe will be offered the same incentives. EDIT: Rumors are that we WILL get the same pre-order incentives during the first week of release

Sony`s TV box add-on for the PS3 is launched today in the UK. With PlayTV you will be able to watch freeview TV through your PS3 or streamed to your PSP. Thanks to the two receivers built into the unit it will also be possible for you to record one program while watching another. The PS3 will also be able to record TV while you are playing games, with the recordings being watchable at a later date on either the PS3 or streamed to a PSP.

As I reported earlier in the week a demo is now available from the US PlayStation Store, so if you`re still not sure if it`s for you here`s your chance to give it a go. Personally I think it`s a fantastically fun game and well worth a shot.
